The Components of Quality Management

Quality management is a way to ensure the consistency of an organization, product or service. It has four main components- quality planning, quality assurance, quality control and quality improvement. Quality planning is a part of quality management which involves the process of identifying the quality standards and the methods to achieve them. Similarly, quality assurance is also a part of quality management, but involved in preventing defects in manufactured products and avoiding constraints during product or service delivery.

Quality assurance is the process of reviewing the quality of all factors which are involved in the production process. Quality control and quality assurance are often used interchangeably. Quality improvement covers product improvement, process improvement and people based improvement.
